NO MORE SMOKING FOR ME, I'M FREE!

SENIOR AMERICA

LONG ISLAND

Claire recalls a childhood enriched by the weekly visits of her mother's large family to Grandma's house, where the lively, musically talented group, after enjoying great food, would gather around the piano and harmonize songs old and new. Her natural musical ability was evident when she started playing the piano by ear at age 4. She wrote her first song at age 6, and has proceeded to compose songs (words and music) whenever moved by a person or subject. Prolific in her composing, she turns out love ballads, songs for occasions, rousing songs for a cause, songs about people and places special to her. She is a member of ASCAP.

As an alto in her high school, college and community choruses, she was featured in their nucleus of outstanding singers.

Claire holds many honors for her leadership role in the striving for and achievement of a smokefree environment. In 1980, she published, on cassette, her "Nonsmokers' Song", which described in verses and chorus the affliction of nonsmokers by second hand tobacco smoke in virtually every area of their daily life. The "Nonsmokers' Song" was featured in radio news reports of legislative actions to ban smoking in public places, and was used as an educational tool in support of the smokefree movement in areas of the U.S.A. and Canada.

In 1995, Claire was a Long Island winner of the Ms. New York Senior America pageant, and went on to become 2nd runner-up in the State pageant, singing a love song she had written for her husband.

Four of Claire's songs, "Senior America", "No More Smoking For Me, I'm Free!", "Brooklyn U.S.A." and "Long Island" have been released on CD. Plans are underway to release several additional songs on CD shortly.
